Vicki Lynne Murphy, 74, of Rockford, IL went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2022.

Vicky was a deeply devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born on November 15, 1947 in Rockford to Charles and Luretha Walton.

She married the love of her life, Leroy Murphy, on August 15, 1970, together they shared 2 children and 51 years in marriage. Vicki went to college in Minnesota to Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, and went on to serve the Rockford community employed as a hospital billing specialist at Swedish American Hospital.

She enjoyed music and playing the organ. She was involved in her church and prayer groups at North East Christian Church, as well as other churches in the Rockford area. She was dedicated to her faith and her family. They went on vacations as they raised their children together, always on an adventure somewhere new. When Vicki was blessed with grandchildren she spent quality time going to the library, hosting Easter egg hunts, baking, and having one on one time with each one of them. She also enjoyed bird watching and watching wildlife in her back yard with her husband. Vicki shared her love with her friends and family with her way of words, special home-made gift baskets, and flower arrangements. She will be missed by many.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband; Leroy Murphy; Daughters, Tiffany (Matthew) Crull and Renae (Shane) Van Sickle, grandchildren; Addisen, Brynn, Talan, and Libby, as well as numerous extended family members and friends whom she loved dearly.

She is welcomed into heaven by her parents.

A funeral service for Vicki will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 at 2pm at Sunset Funeral Home. Located at 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park IL 61115. A visitation will be held at 1pm until the time of service.
