Mark A. Lunsford, 58, of Austin, formerly of Virginia, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00am Central, Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home.

Mark was born on September 1, 1963, to Loretta and Albert Lunsford in Lancaster, California.

Mark grew up predominately in Pasadena, California.

He subsequently moved to Virginia in 2003 where he was hired on as a temporary employee at Costco, Leesburg, during the holiday season. Mark was employed with Costco for 17 years.

Mark's life was filled with various interests. He loved swimming. As a young boy he would be in the pool from early morning until evening – with his toes shriveled up, hair turned blond, and with a deep tan. His mom would always know where to find him and beg him to get out of the pool.

Mark loved music. He had personal connections with people in the music industry such as Stephanie Mills, Teena Marie, and he also managed Minnie Riperton's fan club for a time.

Mark was a tennis shoe aficionado. He curated a closet full of beautiful and rare tennis shoe designs, which today are collector's items. We teased him when he traveled because he had a separate suitcase just for his tennis shoes.

Mark loved to laugh and had the craziest sense of humor. You couldn't help but laugh when Mark was around.

Faith was at the core of Mark's being. He loved the Lord and his pastor, Pastor Gary Hamrick, and his church, Cornerstone Chapel, in Leesburg.

Mark was a "people person" – he loved to encourage others, faithfully sent out inspiring messages every day, and was always there when help was needed. He was a great inspiration to the many lives he touched, and we will miss his presence forever.

In addition to his natural family, Mark had a large extended family of friends in Leesburg, Virginia. Known as "Markus" to them, he was loved by so many people.

His "best buddy" Felicidad and her daughters were an integral part of Mark's life and regarded him as a close family member. His love and influence over the girls will have an enduring impact on their lives.

His Leesburg Costco co-workers were also a big part of Mark's extended family. While far too numerous to name everyone, please know that each of you were special to Mark and he cherished the unique relationship he had with each of you.

Mark developed enduring connections with his customers and their families as well. A few of these relationships developed into close friendships including Ricky and Shena, who played an integral role in helping Mark receive the best medical advice and care over these past few months. Sonia, who played a "big sister" role in Mark's life for many years. Mohammed and his family, who was Mark's long-time landlord and considered Mark as part of their family. And there were many others who were special to Mark and whose lives he touched.

His pastors and friends from Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg were also an important aspect of Mark's life. Pastors Jimmy and Mike, Tracey, Brian, Geoff, Fritz, and many others held a special place in Mark's heart and shared a spiritual connection in Christ.

Mark is survived by his mother Loretta Lilly, his five sisters: Alicea Jones (Lester), Lyria Charles, Kim Lunsford, Christina Harper (Ken), and Loretta Irvin (William); his aunts, Betty Miller and Loretta Lunsford, his uncle David Lilly, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
