Ruby Maye Graves, 95, of Grand Island, NE died Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Riverside Lodge. Memorial service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Weeks and Anny Kapundu officiating. Visitation with the family will begin 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ruby was born on May 26, 1927, in Nance County, NE to Errett Franklin "Sam" and Mary Ellen (Cox) Garton. She attended public school in Fullerton, NE and Westminister, CO, graduating from Westminster High School in 1945. She moved back to Fullerton in 1945.
On October 6, 1947, Ruby married Gerald Laverne "Joe" Graves in Fullerton. The couple moved to South Dakota in 1947, and then to Holdrege, NE in 1951. In 1959 they moved to Grand Island, NE.
Ruby was a member of Friday Bible Study, Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Telephone Pioneers, and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include son, Thomas (Jeanne) Graves of Grand Island; daughter, Ava Weeks of Kampala, Uganda; grandchildren: Brian (Hope) Graves, Danny (Jodi) Graves, Scott (Amy) Weeks, Jill (Rob) Pahl, Jeffrey (Kristi) Weeks, Shane (Laura) Weeks, Zachary (Cassy) Weeks, Heidi Jo Weeks; great grandchildren: Carsten, Jackson, Parker, and Madilyn Graves, Hannah, Jacob, Caleb, Madison, AvaClaire, Norah Kate, Lillian, and Cambria Weeks, and Jude Wright, Joshua and Olivia Pahl. .
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Graves; sisters: Lorella (Richard) Irwin, Elaine (Delbert) Graves, Janice (Charles) Jarecke, and Karen Golden; brothers-in-law: Clyde Graves, Jr. and Charles Graves.
