Prudence Amanda Bellamy Bryan, William's second wife (the niece of his first wife), was from one of the first European families in this section of Horry County. Her great-grandfather, John Bellamy, was born in Prince George Parish around 1720, and he and his descendants settled large tracts northern of Horry.

Prudence Amanda and William had seven children together (in addition to the six children born to his first wife, Harriet). Their oldest son, Luticious Bryan, became the man of the family when he was only nine years old, upon his father's early death. "Tish" took care of his widowed mother for the rest of her life -- which was most of his life too, as she lived to be nearly ninety -- and also helped raise his younger sisters. He was a prominent citizen in the Little River area, and the patriarch of his own large family.
