H. M. Eagle was a sing­ing school teach­er associated with A. J. Showalter's Southern Normal Musical Institute. He was a member of the Big Quar­tet, a group that sang and promoted for the A. J. Showalter Music Company.

Eagle was editor or co-editor of several song books, including New Lyrics of Praise (1912), Excellent Songs for Special Occasions (1915), The Big Quartet Book for Men's Voices (1918), and The Song-Land Way: A Collection of Choice Gospel Songs for Sunday Schools, Young People's Meetings and General Public Worship (1925).
