Funeral Services Held For William P. Johnson, 36
Services were held on Monday, May 11, 1987, at the Bethel Baptist Church, Newell, for William P. Johnson of Birmingham, Ala. The Rev. Steven K. Mitchell officiated at the 2 p.m. service.
Music was provided by Tom Olson, soloist, with Mrs. William Christiansen as accompanist, Organist was Mrs. Fred Palmer. Flowers were in the care of Mrs. Dale Wetherell and Mrs. Charles Wetherell. Attendants were Kevin Smith, David Smith, Doug Olsen, Lee Baily, Lyle Baily, and Paul McGee.
Burial was in the Newell Cemetery, Newell. Farber and Otteman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Obituary
William Peter Johnson was born in Laurens on July 1, 1951, the son of Marvin and Mary Johnson. Bill was a graduate of the Newell-Providence High School in 1970. He also served his country for four years while being enlisted in the United States Air Force. Bill was also a graduate of the Fort Dodge Community College where he studied for two years.
After his conversion experience with Christ in 1976, Bill was baptized at the Faith Baptist Church in Texas.
He was united in marriage to Sandra Anderson in LuVerne on Sept.2, 1977.
Up until the time of his death, Bill worked as a maintenance technician at Seal Tech in Bessemer, Ala. He also served as a coordinator for the Shelby County Parent's Support Group TOUGHLOVE.
Bill was called home to heaven on Wednesday, May 6, 1987, due to an accident which involved him being struck by an automobile while he was riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra, and children, Chad William and Sheri Marie; his parents Marvin and Mary Johnson of Newell; one brother, Steve Johnson and wife Nancy of Pomeroy; and three sisters, Sue Christiansen and husband Tim of Ashton, Marilee Knerr and husband Delbert of Columbia, Mo., and Marilyn Christiansen and husband Terry of Allison; and grandmother, Mrs. Sylvia Johnson of Laurens.
