Obituary
REMELE, BARBARA BURLESON, 89, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2022. She courageously battled rheumatoid arthritis and its complications for most of her adult life.. She was born in Dallas, Texas on September 5, 1932 to John and Hettie Burleson of Dallas. She graduated from Sunset High School in 1949 and attended North Texas State University. She married Laird Remele on March 27, 1953 and celebrated 54 years of marriage before Laird passed in 2007. Barbara worked various jobs including a showroom at the Apparel Mart and as a talent coordinator for the Kim Dawson Agency. She loved to sew, play bridge and Rummikub as well as travel with friends and family in their RV. She was a faithful life time member of Tyler Street United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Two by Two Sunday School class.



Besides her husband, Barbara is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Eric Schunk. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Remele of Dallas; Carol Remele Schunk of Los Angeles, California; Linda Remele Alves and husband John of Columbus, Ohio; 8 grandchildren, From California, Daniel, Chris, Evan Schunk and from Seattle, Kirsten Gashler (Eric) and her one and only favorite great grandson, Jake Gashler. From Ohio, Zach (Natalie), Anna Bennett (Derrick), Sam and Victoria Alves. She is also survived by her niece, Karen Bohn (Richard) and great nephews, Kevin, Kelly and Ken Slayter. Barbara leaves behind many devoted friends of 60 years or more, including Marsha Griffin, Lou Johnston, Dolores Lewis, Ann/Don Marshall, Janet Rhodes, JoAnn Schroeder and many others that regularly visited Fredericksburg together.



The celebration of life service will be Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11:30 am with Rev. Mike Walker assisting. For those interested in attending, Interment will follow at the Dallas / Fort Worth National Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated or donations made to Tyler Street United Methodist Church, 927 W. T
