Art was the son of Willie Wilson Sr and Minnie Ruth Bivins Wilson, he was the 8th of 10 children. He was educated in the Schley County School System and the Sumter County School System, attending John Lewis High School in Ellaville, Georgia until January 1964 when his family moved to Americus, Georgia where he was a Class of 1965 graduate of Sumter High School. He served in the U. S. Navy for 4 years and received his Honorable Discharge. After his military obligations, he settled in San Francisco, California where he was employed with the Naval Shipyard until his 1995 retirement. He returned to live in Americus, Georgia in 1996.

He was a member of the Jerusalem Baptist Church in Schley County, Georgia where he was Ordained a Deacon. He was a member of the C. B. Dowdell American Legion Post #558 for 23 years and was serving as Sargent at Arms at the time of his passing. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He was married to Mary Ann Jackson Wilson for 18 years. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Bernice Wilson and 3 brothers, Woodrow Wilson, Sammie Wilson and Harold Lee Wilson.

2 Sisters: Camilla Wilson and Mary Edward.
3 Brothers: Willie Wilson Jr, Henry B. Wilson(Shirley) and Edward Wilson.
2 Step-Sisters: Minnie Ingram and Doris Perry.
1 Step-Brother: Arthur Ingram(Dr Oneida).
1 Sister-In-Law: Elaine Wilson.
1 Aunt: Catherine Wilson.

Services were held Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11AM in the Sanctuary of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Schley County, Georgia with Dr Deane Holsey Officiating.
