Harold was the son and oldest child of Willie H. Simmons Jr and Annie Mack Simmons. He was educated in the Lowndes County School System and the Brooks County School System, having attended Magnolia Street Elementary School, Lomax Junior High School and Pinevale High School in Valdosta, Georgia; 1 year at Washington High School in Quitman, Georgia and then graduating from Pinvale High School in Valdosta, Georgia. He served in the U. S. Army and served a tour of duty in Thailand working in the Motor Pool and receiving his Honorable Discharge. He enjoyed detailing cars and was known to have them so shiny you could see yourself on the hood.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister and 1 brother, William Wayne Simmons, 1 sister-in-law, Dorothy Simmons, maternal grandparents, Bud Palmer and Charlie Mae Palmer and paternal grandparents, Willie H. Simmons Sr and Mamie Simmons.

Survivors:
3 Daughters: Trina Moses, Taiwan Sukeenia Simmons and Tazzy Guilford.
2 Sons: Harold Daniel Simmons Jr and Wayne Zachary Simmons.
3 Sisters: Ginger K. Simmons Parker, Kandance Warner and Tonya Simmons.
5 Brothers: Phillips Glenn Simmons, Dannie Earl Simmons, Michael Simmons(Carolyn), Mark Cole Simmons and Kevnor Simmons.
3 Aunts: Laura Towns, Maxine Clark and Jennette Simmons.
2 Uncles: Charles Simmons and Julius Clark.
9 Grandchildren: Bernard Moses, Jamarquis Reeves, Izaal Simmons, Mary Peterson, Wayne Simmons Jr, Tor Lumpkin Jr, Wayneisha Simmons, Tatoria Lumpkin and Daniel Simmons.
8 Great Grandchildren: Keshaun Johnson, Imajanae Moses, Allyah Moses, Aiden Moses, Nevaen Moses, Daniel Flanders Jr, Wayne Simmons III and Amara Mais.

Services were held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2PM in the Morven City Auditorium in Morven, Georgia.
