Roger G. Young, 71, of Ravenna passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2022 at Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna. Pastor Jeff Zinnel will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral Home.

Roger Glenn Young was born September 2, 1950 in Kearney, Nebraska to Harold and Myrtle (Hansen) Young, the middle child of the family.

Roger married Bonnie Cronin in August of 1968 and they were married thru 1987. To this union three girls were born. Roger married Pearl Sklenar in O'Neill, NE. They were married from 1987-1992. He married Debbie Davidson on October 9, 2008 at Yankton, SD.

Roger had many loves in his life. He loved doing farm work for different farmers, driving truck, hauling corn, beans and cattle. He had a great love of horses his whole life, that he got from his father. Roger's health started to falter in his 40's and continued until his death.

Roger was a member of the Woodshed Group where had 35 years of sobriety. He graduated from Ravenna High School in 1968, then he went on to get degrees from Central Community College and Northeast Community College in Human Behavior Studies. He used that degree at the Grand Island Salvation Army and in Kearney for probation officers.

He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was a volunteer fireman and ambulance driver in Ravenna, which was a very big honor for him.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie; daughters, Sheila (Brian) Lockhorn, Sharon (Julian) Martinez and Sarah (Johnny) Schrunk; grandchildren, Delaney (Andy) Labenz, Halleigh (Brady) Standage, Kade Lockhorn, Chase Lockhorn, Amber Summery, Kayla Martinez, David Martinez, Jack Schrunk, Sedona Schrunk and Marina Schrunk; great-grandchildren, Camden Labenz and Kohen Labenz; brother, Ronnie Young; sister-in-law, LeeAnn Young and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Myrtle Young; grandmother, Tina Hansen; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Duane Hendrickson; brother, Kelly Young and sister-in-law, Sandy Young and niece, Janece Hendrickson.
