Mary Elizabeth Moore, known to everyone as Mary Beth, was born on November 20, 1942 to Thomas and Elizabeth J. Moore of Pasadena, Texas.
Mary Beth was a devoted daughter and lifelong resident of Pasadena. She followed her mother into a career in education. Mary Beth graduated from Pasadena High School in 1961 and subsequently attended Baylor University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965 and a Master of Science in Education Degree in 1967. Mary Beth had a career of 31 years as a teacher and librarian for the Pasadena Independent School District. She taught 2nd and 3rd grade and in 1976 earned a Master of Library Science degree from Sam Houston State University. During the later years of her career, Mary Beth served as a school librarian. She had a lifelong love of books and helping children learn to love books, as well. Mary Beth was president of the Epsilon Rho Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society in Texas from 1974 to 1976. This International Society supported education and the teaching profession for women educators. Mary Beth was a longstanding member of South Main Baptist Church-Pasadena and her faith was an integral part of her life.
Mary Beth passed away peacefully at her home on the afternoon of June 14, 2022.
A celebration of life for Mary will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. Immediately following she will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
