She was the mother of six, grandmother of eight, great-grandmother of ten, and great-great-grandmother of six.
She is survived by three daughters, Reba Hill and husband, Edward, of Raleigh, Helen Taylor of Swansboro, and Robin Garner of Kinston; son, Lewis Taylor and wife, Bonnie, of Kinston; son-in-law, Gene Waggy of Dale City, Virginia; grandchildren, Mary Ann Martin (Ricky), Eddie Hill (Marsha), Deana Nash (Brian), Michael Taylor, Jonathan Lockamy, Jason Lockamy (Brook), and Lonnie Taylor.
"Grandma Taylor" enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, watching the birds, especially the cardinals (her favorite) and squirrels in the front yard. She could make anything grow and grow beautifully. She could equally show her skills in the kitchen, making some of the best biscuits and chicken pastry. She retired from the shirt factory in 1989 and later worked at West Company.
She attended Gray Branch FWB Church, Unity FWB Church, and Tabernacle FWB until her health began to decline.
A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Jimmy Mercer will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
