Billie Jean Denson Henry beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 16, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 21, 2022, at First Baptist Church Chapel, Midland, with Dr. Darin Wood and James Ervin officiating.

Billie was born January 7, 1928 in Haskell County, Texas to Raymond and Ila Kathryn Denson. She grew up in Rule, Texas and graduated from Rule High School. After high school, she enrolled in the Army Nurse Cadet program and attended nursing school at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo. After a year of nurses training, she married Jim Henry on June 1, 1946. She earned enough nursing credits to work for Dr. Sandifer in Lubbock while Jim finished his degree at Texas Tech. His career took them to many assignments in Texas and Oklahoma before settling in Midland in 1964. As Jim began his consulting firm in Midland, Billie kept the business books. She was a loving helper to him for their 74 years of marriage.

Billie was known for her skills as a homemaker, faithfully serving her family as housekeeper, seamstress, cook and advisor. If Billie knew of a need, she would encourage, serve and pray for you. She was first to deliver food to a bereaved family or someone just home from the hospital. She would deliver a pound cake or if you were a heart patient an angel food. She lovingly opened her home to her father-in-law and her parents in their last years. When the added-on grandparent apartment was vacant she and Jim opened it to interim pastors and counselors at the church. Her home was always warm, welcoming and open for hospitality.

She loved her church, First Baptist Church of Midland, where she was a member for 60 years. For many years she taught a primary children's Sunday School often illustrating the Bible lesson with a shoe box house and clothespin dolls as characters. She worked on countless committees including the wedding committee in the 1980s. She ran wedding rehearsals and wedding day details with graciousness and precision, freeing the pastor's time. Billie received many notes of gratitude from relieved mothers of the bride.

Billie and Jim loved their grandchildren and actively participated in their lives with visits and trips to San Antonio and Washington, DC. The trips always came with history lessons from Mimi and treats from Jim.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry, her parents, and a brother, Sonny Denson. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Kathryn Sterne (Louis), Judy Beth Johnson (Ronald); grandchildren David Sterne, (Amanda), Jonathan Sterne (Natalie), Matthew Johnson (Sarah), and Ashley Kennedy; and 10 great grandchildren.

A visitation for Billie will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home, 4616 N Big Spring Street, Midland, Texas 79705. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 2104 W Louisiana Ave, Midland, Texas. A burial will occur Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 N Big Spring St, Midland, Texas 79705.
