Shirley was born to Glover and Mary Peeler on December 12, 1936, in Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated from Landon High School in 1954.
Later in life, Shirley owned her own business, The Peanut Ladies, with her daughter. She and Debi enjoyed traveling around north Florida and South Georgia selling and delivering boiled peanuts to various retail outlets.
Shirley was a devout Seventh Day Adventist and would gladly profess her faith and love of Jesus Christ at any opportunity.
Shirley was well known for her love of all animals, great and small.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Garrett, Jr. She and Guy were married 1954 and lived in The Jacksonville area and Florida Keys their entire lives.
