She was born in Attica, IN on October 8, 1935, the daughter of the late Maurice and Alice Katherine (Miles) Massing. She married Jimmy Martin on June 12, 1954 in Attica, IN.
Phyllis had been a resident of Monterey, CA since 1999. She graduated from Attica High School in 1953. While living in Attica, Phyllis worked at Guthman's as a secretary after graduation. She later moved to Tennessee and became an LPN and worked at a nursing facility in Murfreesboro for four years. She later moved to California and became an LPN there as well. She worked for three years in Monterey before retiring. She was a member of the Attica Baptist Church.
Phyllis's hobbies included daily walks, working crossword puzzles and shopping with her three girls. Dogs were her favorite pets.
Phyllis leaves behind three daughters; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Karen Alice Dutkanicz.
A gravesite service for Phyllis will be held in the Riverside Cemetery in Attica, IN on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Jerry Badgley officiating.
