-Beverly Brooks Jordan died following church on Sunday afternoon, September 14. She was the daughter of the late John Page and Lois Hayes Brooks of Roxboro, NC. She was born on March 1, 1940, and attended Roxboro High School before enrolling at the Duke University School of Nursing where she received her degree in 1962. She was a devoted wife of 53 years to the love of her life, Lyndon K. Jordan, MD, who survives her. Her most cherished role was as mother to three sons who survive her: Lyndon K. Jordan, III; Christopher P. Jordan; and Patrick B. Jordan. She adored her four grandchildren: Camden B. Jordan; L. Kirkman Jordan, IV; Connor B. Jordan; and Madeline G. Jordan. She is also survived by her sister Anne Page Brooks of Richmond, KY. Her brother, Nathaniel L. Brooks preceded her in death. Beverly was active in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Smithfield over the course of nearly 50 years, where she served as Senior Warden and frequent member of the Church Vestry. Through her work, she often visited those who were homebound, taking fresh flowers from her rose garden. The red roses blooming in her yard on the day she died serve as a comfort to her family and a testament to her passion for their beauty. As a great cook, she loved hosting family parties and get-togethers, and even joked about preferring to cook for her own birthday parties and Mother's Day lunches - to which no one objected. She had a talent for bringing a team together. She was a member of several social and service groups in the area. Beverly had a compassionate and generous spirit, serving as a backbone for the community and for her family.
