Larry Thomas McGowan, 73, passed away January 22, 2022. Born January 5, 1949 in Columbia, SC. His early years were spent in Hialeah, Florida before moving to Baton Rouge to finish high school class of 68 Glen Oaks where he excelled in sports. He and best friend Paul Parker joined the Marines in 68 and served 4 years during the Vietnam War. They remained friends for life. After service, he pursued a career in the electrical field. Larry's passion was reading, he had an extensive library. He was passionate about history, politics and sometimes his own opinion. He is survived by sons Ian McGowan and wife Mallory of New Iberia, Aaron McGowan of Austin, TX. Grandchildren Camille, Kate and William. Sisters Carmen Landry and Rose Barber. The mother of his children Gloria Roscoe. Preceded in death by parents Jack and Edna McGowan a sister Barbara. Brothers-in-law Markum Landry and Gary Barber. A memorial service with honors will be held at Port Hudson Nat. Cemetery Friday, March 25 at 1:00 pm. Larry's heart was big, always optimistic. We will miss him greatly.
