Richard Michael Brooks , age 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of Hammond. Richard was a fine hunter, and fisherman; however, his passion was cooking, cooking and more cooking. His family always came first. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who is already dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Richard is survived by his son, Michael Brooks and wife Tammy; daughter-in-law, Melissa Bush; grandchildren, Ashley, Joey, Dustin, Jake, Blake, Brennen, Brooks, Codie Corkern; great-grandchildren, Adyson and Kade Simoneaux, Blaire and Kylie Daigle, Natalie and Clay Brooks, Luke and Andie Brooks, Kylee, Bowen and Preslee Brooks; sister, Gloria Brooks Barrios; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by son, David Brooks; parents, James Woodrow and Josephine Alfonso Brooks; brother, James Brooks; and aunt, Lillie Alfonso.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Carlin Sanders will officiate with interment to follow in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery.
