Mary was born on August 18, 1930 in Grovertown, IN to Nicholi and Eva (Kopka) Yakimicki. She graduated from Grovertown High School. She became a highly skilled administrative assistant after many years working for a variety of large corporations and later the board of education in Wayne, NJ. On May 28, 1954, she married Daniel J. Coleman II. They had met at a church social near South Bend, IN while Dan was attending Notre Dame University. They raised three sons, Daniel III, Colin and Dion, and two daughters, Mary Rose and Christina.
Mary had a passion for gardening, furniture restoration and was a great seamstress. She also enjoyed being active at her church and loved to meet with her "girls" for their monthly Breakfast Club. They became lifelong friends. Most of all, Mary enjoyed being a good mother and raising her children and grandchildren. She always set a fine example and instilled her own strong moral values and integrity in them. As a mother, Mary was also an advocate for healthy living. She had a subscription to Prevention Magazine and prepared healthy meals and always made sure her family took multi-vitamins. She was an excellent cook and her family always looked forward to her lasagna, banana bread and Thanksgiving Day stuffing.
Mary was a quiet person unless she had something important or interesting to say. She was a very good listener. One of her amazing qualities was that people of all types naturally enjoyed her company. A beautiful person who was giving, humble and very comfortable with herself. She was blessed with a good sense of humor and wisdom which many admired.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Nicholi, mother, Eva, brother John, sister Pat, and her son, Dion (Georgean). She is survived by four of her children, Daniel III (Laurie), Colin (Barbara), Mary Rose, and Christina, her sisters, Julie and Rose, and seven grandchildren, Rachel, Daniel IV, Jenny, Kristin, Lauren, Dion II and Eva.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 16th, 2022 at the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church on Urban Club Road in Wayne, NJ at 10 o'clock a.m. A burial service will immediately follow at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes.
