She was born in Duncansville, PA on January 30, 1925, a daughter of the late Harvey B. and Catherine Stiffler Miller.
Florence graduated from Hollidaysburg High School.
During WWII, she did inventory at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. She had worked for Pennsylvania Electric in Altoona, PA as an inspector; and had also worked as a caregiver for various families throughout the Erie area.
Florence was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, where she served as a church sexton and belonged to Fraven Verein Ladies Society. She was a former member of Chapter 21 Order of Eastern Star and served as Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls Erie 8.
Florence was an avid gardener and enjoyed crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dale R. Haffley in 2008; a son, Aaron D. Haffley; a granddaughter, Samantha Haffley; four sisters and four brothers.
Florence is survived by her daughters, Sherrill Grygier (Steve) and Karol Campbell (Eric) all of Erie; her sons, George Kirkland (Priscilla) of Apex, NC, Dennis Haffley (Chrystal) of Albion and Dwayne Haffley (Heidi) of Meadville and daughter in law, Karen Haffley of Erie. She is further survived by a sister, Betty Pyle of Oxford, PA; 23 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and dear friend Chiara Wawrzyniak.
A celebration of Florence's life service will be held at a date and time to be announced.
