LTC (R) Robert "Bob" J. Thomas, age 84 of Jonesboro passed away June 21, 2022. Lt. Colonel Thomas retired from the U. S. Army with 20 years of service. He served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea and received a Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by his parents: James Lewis Thomas and Alice Rose (House) Thomas, wife: Mildred Elizabeth (Brendza) Thomas, daughter: Laura da Costa and brother: James Lewis Thomas, Jr. Surviving are his children: Vernon (Jennifer) Thomas of Stockbridge, Lisa Thomas (Bill Hudgins) of Stockbridge, Trisha (Chris) Clark of Stockbridge, son-in-law: Ilton da Costa of McDonough, sister: Marilyn Williamson of Cordele, GA, grandchildren: Allison (Bobby) Smith, Meagan Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Robert Abel, Michael Thomas, Maria (Luke) Golden, Alex Hayes, Morganne Thomas, Billy Lord, Austin Clark, Taylor Meares, Ashly Patterson and McKenzy Hudgins, great-grandchildren: Autumn Abel, Joseph Combs, Elizabeth Smith and Kimi Abel, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor Carol Cook officiating. The family will receive friends 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
