The following appeared in The Birmingham News (Birmingham, Alabama)16 Oct 1961:

"Funeral services for James O. Anderson, 68, of 1808 Mayfair Drive, will be held at the graveside at Elmwood at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Dr. Denson Franklin will officiate with Ridout's Valley Chapel directing. Mr. Anderson died Sunday at his residence.

A retired real estate broker, Mr. Anderson was a native of Dahlonega, Ga., and had resided in Birmingham for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary P. Anderson, Birmingham; a daughter, Mrs. Mary B. Shamroy; a son, James O. Anderson, both of Hollywood, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. B. B. McWhorter, and Mrs. Paulette A. Gwin, both of Birmingham.

Mr. Anderson's son and daughter are prominent in the movie and television industry in Hollywood. Mrs. Shamroy's husband is chief photographer for the movie 'Cleopatra', now being filmed in Italy. Mrs. Shamroy is en route from Italy to Birmingham."
