SSG (RET) Walter Richard Mitchell, 72, of Radcliff, KY, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Baptist Health Hardin, Elizabethtown, KY. He was born on October 25, 1949 in Fairmont, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of St. Christopher Parish, Radcliff, KY. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served six years, retired from the United States Army having served fourteen years and then he served five years with the Department of Defense. Walter was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and numerous other campaign ribbons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Theodore & Hazel Elizabeth Parkinson Mitchell; six siblings, Fred, Teddy, David, Sheldon, Richard and Mark.

Survivors include: His loving wife of forty-seven years, Estela Mitchell; one son, David Patrick Mitchell; two grandchildren, Roman Alexander Mitchell, Sydney Mechelle Mitchell; ten siblings, Ruth, Carole, Jeffrey, Delores, Danni, Mary, Madeline, Patrick, Clara, Joseph, Luke; and a host of extended family & friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, June 24, 2022 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY and from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at St. Christopher Parish.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Mitchell at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at St. Christopher Parish, Radcliff, KY with Rev. Jeff Hopper officiating. the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
