B. Juanita Reckoff, 89, of Onawa died Monday, August 29, 2005, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Services were at 10 a.m. Friday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2005 at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery, Storm Lake.ONAWA, Iowa -- B. Juanita Reckoff, 89, of Onawa died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Services were 10 a.m. Friday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Graveside services were 1:30 p.m. Friday at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery, Storm Lake, Iowa, with the Rev. Jamie Cutler officiating.

Blanche Juanita was born Dec. 27, 1915, in Turin, Iowa, the daughter of William and Blanche (Struble) Aitken. She was raised and educated in the Castana, Iowa, area. She graduated from Castana High School in 1933. She attended Buena Vista College and received a bachelor or arts degree in elementary education in 1962. The first four years of her teaching career were at Castana Public School.

She married Mahlon Reckoff on Aug. 14, 1938, at her parent's home in Castana. The couple made their home in Storm Lake, where they owned and operated Reckoff Oil Co. She also taught junior high language arts in schools in the surrounding area, enjoying a total of 42 years as a teacher. Mahlon passed away April 16, 1967, in Storm Lake. She moved to Monona County and had has been a resident of the Elmwood Care Centre for the past eight years.

She was very civic minded and interested in children's welfare volunteering and serving in many organizations, Buena Vista Alumni, an avid supporter of Buena Vista music programs, Iowa Readers Council, Methodist Manor and Buena Vista County Hospital. She organized and was a member of the board of directors of Faith, Hope and Charity helping handicapped children. She was a member of the Ginger Bread House, Order of the Eastern Star, Storm Lake Mother Advisor of Rainbow, Delta Kappa Gamma, B.P.W. and S.E.R.P.A.C.I. antique car club.

Survivors include a sister and her husband, Wilda and Robert Erickson of Castana, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews who were all very dear to her.

In addition to her husband, Mahlon, she was also preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Winona Olson, Wanda Olson, Wyma Knoff and Letty Hammer.
