– Margaret Jane Taylor, 76, of Big Rapids, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at The Brook Retirement Community of Big Rapids.

She was born September 30, 1945, in Swartz Creek, the daughter of Theodore and Violet (Hodges) Cusack, and graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 1963. Margaret then attended Ferris State College, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work.

While attending Ferris, Margaret met the love of her life, Thomas H. Taylor, and they were married on February 10, 1968. For 34 years, she worked for the Michigan Department of Social Services, retiring as Supervisor.

Margaret was a longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. She was also a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, and the local Crazy 8's Card Club. Margaret was also an active volunteer for the United Way.

She is survived by her daughter Tracee and very special son-in-law Ray Blair of Big Rapids; 2 grandsons Elliott and Blake Blair; brothers- and sisters-in-law Scott and Janet Taylor, Jon and Marilyn Taylor, Patrick McKercher, and Joyce Newman; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her lifelong childhood friend Marilyn "Perk" Scheidemantel. Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Wilma and Irving Taylor; her sisters Mary Ellen McKercher and Kathy Cummiskey, and brothers-in-law Dan Cummiskey and Richard Taylor.

A Celebration of Margaret's life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Pine Plains Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be made for the United Way. Care and arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
