Olympic Champion. He was a sprint canoeist who mostly competed in four-man events. In the 1968 Mexico City Olympics he competed in the men's K-4 1000 metres event in which team won the gold medal and in the 1972 Munich Olympics where they won the bronze medal. He also competed in the World Championships in 1970 and 1975 and the European Championships in 1969 receiving a gold medal in each of these events, representing Norway at all events.
