James Rutland King, 87, of Frankfort, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. He was husband of the late Teresa Renee Howell King who passed August 24, 2021.
James was born September 11, 1933 in Nashville, TN to the late Robert Williamson King and Goldie Lee King. He attended school at the Jere Baxter Elementary School, Isaac Litton High School Class of 1951, and George Pepperdine University. Following school James served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He worked in the steel industry for Mid-State Steel and Carolina Steel for 24 years. After moving to Frankfort, KY, he worked as the Director of Facility Management for Stewart Home School until his retirement.
Survivors include his children, Shana King (Tammy Lee) of Nashville, Brett Howell of Frankfort, James M. King of Lexington; two grandchildren, Aaron Terhune and Sarah Barnett; his mother-in-law Marcella Grubbs Boblitt; and brothers-in-law, Paul (Laura) Boblitt, Rex (Veronica) Boblitt, and Jerry (Alejandra) Boblitt. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert W. King, Jr., Kenneth Keller King, and Nancy Ann King Smith.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4th from 4 – 6 PM followed by the service with military honors beginning at 6:00 PM at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Ehr officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
