Raymond was born on February 11 1945 in Wilkes County to James Odell Watts and Christeenia Houck Watts.

Raymond enjoyed spending time with family and gardening.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul Watts and Claude Watts and a son, Mel Skogstad

Raymond is survived by his wife of 28 years ,Mary "Sue" Watts of the home; daughters, Kathy Warner and husband, Ken of Michigan, Becky Testerman and husband, Calvin of Moravian Falls; sons, Tony Watts of North Carolina, Robert Skogstad and wife, Thaise of Texas; sisters, Elizabeth McDonald of Hudson, Mary Gilbert of Lenoir, Edith Watts of Boomer; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchild and extended family, Lois Jestes of North Wilkesboro and Blanch Jones also of North Wilkesboro.
