Services for Maria Carmela "Nellie" Owens will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Mrs. Owens was born April 22, 1903, in Trinidad, Colo., to the late Domenico and Maria Franciamore. She died Sept. 4, 2000, in the local hospital.
A resident of Ardmore for 69 years, she moved here from Trinidad where she married B.L. Owens on June 9, 1922. She and her husband were owners and operators of B.L. Owens Furniture Company. She was a member of Priscilla Sunday school at First Baptist Church, and former member of Eastern Star, Garden Club and Altrusa Club. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; and two sons, Eugene and Virgil Ownes.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Victor and Lee Owens of Odessa, Fla.; a daughter and her husband, Frances and Gene McFall of Ardmore; a daughter-in-law, Louise Owens also of Ardmore; eight grandchildren, Ben, Carl, Victor and Chet Owens, Carmella Henson, Rick, Mike and Dick McFall; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be the grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at 315 Stanley.
Services will be under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
