She worked in the banking industry, where she met her husband Murray E. Ellis. Before Murray passed in 2008, the pair were married for 54 happy years. Dorothy and Murray were life-long members of Ridgeway Baptist Church. Dorothy had a great love for her friends, family, and the Lord. She will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and sense of humor.
Dorothy is survived by her son; her daughter, along with her husband and their two children; her sister-in-law; as well as her nieces and cousins from Texas, California, and Ripley, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband Murray and her brother Colonel Raymond H Beaty and sister Mary Elizabeth Poteete.
The visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar on Tuesday, June 21, from 5:00 until 6:30 PM. The following morning, a private burial service for family will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude or The Alzheimer's Association.
