Dennis Queen was a popular student at Glen Alpine High School, where he was preparing to serve as senior class president. He was band leader and drum major for the school band, and he also served on the student council.

He was a son of Hoyle F. and Doris Farris Queen, and brother to Glenn "Butch" Queen and Denise Queen.

Dennis was killed in a car accident on Vine Arden Road, along with George Randy Sisk.
