Funeral services for Betty Jo Gibson, 81, of Chickasha, will be held in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.

Betty Jo (Clay) Gibson was born February 9, 1941 in Pickens, Oklahoma to Opal James Marion Clay and Janie Fern (Garner) Clay. She passed from this life on Friday, June 17, 2022 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Betty grew up in Pickens as a middle child with an older sister and a younger brother. She graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1958.

On August 8, 1958, she married the love of her life, Jerry V. Gibson, in Broken Bow and they shared almost 64 years of marriage.

Betty was a homemaker, raising her children and she enjoyed painting, crocheting, canning, and cooking. She was a great seamstress and sewed much of her family's clothing. She was also very involved in church activities and enjoyed singing and playing piano. She attended and was active in several churches over the years, including Cedar Lake Church near Hinton and Ridgecrest Baptist in Bridge Creek.

She loved children and enjoyed babysitting and visiting with children she came across in the community. Betty was happy and soft-hearted with hugs for all.

She was preceded in death by both parents and a daughter Crystal Lynn Gibson.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
