John G. "Johnnie" Stephens was born November 6, 1943 to his parents, Hugo Victor and Mattie Lee Ivey Stephens. The Fayette native, was educated early on in the local school systems, before beginning a successful career as mechanic, and maintenance overseer at Running Brook Apartments in Tuscaloosa for twenty-five years. A local resident of this area, since 1975, Mr. Johnnie will be remembered as a "jack of all trades." A Baptist by testimony of his faith, Mr. Stephens loved his family very much and will missed by those who knew him. Fishing was a favorite pass time.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter-in-law: Sandra Stephens; three brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years: Mrs. Elaine Reid Stephens; two children: Dale (Stephany) Stephens and Robert Stephens; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister: Jessie Locke and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Union Church Cemetery.
