Dolly Mae Armstrong, 81 of Goodwin, passed away on Sunday evening, June 12 at her home. Dolly was born March 11, 1941 in Goodwin Arkansas to Ransom Smith Jr and Viola Braswell-Smith.

Dolly was a lifelong member of the Goodwin Church of God in Christ in Goodwin. During her tenure here she served as an Usher, President of Usher Board, Sunday school teacher, secretary of the Home and Foreign Mission, secretary of the Mother Board, president of the Sunshine Band, president of Hospitality; YWCC and church custodian. She also served as Church Missionary, District Missionary and District Usher for the Church of God in Christ.

Dolly attended elementary school in Goodwin and Wheatley. She then went on to attend Marian Anderson High School in Brinkley.

Dolly was employed as a Nurse Assistant for Assistant Living for more than 15 years before she retired in 2012. She had formerly been employed with Warwick/Sanyo in Forrest City for more than 25 years before the late 1990's.

Her husband M.L. Armstrong: her parents: Ransom Smith Jr. and Viola Smith; four siblings: Lee Arthur Smith, Mary Gipson, Grady Watson Jr. and Cecil Freeman all preceded Dolly in death.

Survivors are: six sons: Dennis (Velma) Smith and Martin Armstrong both of Wheatley, AR; Ronnie (Denise) Armstrong of Jonesboro, AR; Tony (Kim) Armstrong of Brinkley, AR; Gerald (Rossi) Armstrong of Little Rock, AR; and Kelvin Armstrong of Goodwin, AR; three daughters: Margaret (Jimmy) Nelson of Pine Bluff, AR; Hilda Armstrong of Atlanta, GA and Lia Dawn (James Sr.) Smith of Wheatley, AR; twenty-seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three brothers: Eugen (Georgia) Harris of St. Louis, MO; Tommy Lee Smith of Moro, AR; and Willie Lee (Glenola) Smith of Palestine, AR; six sisters: Lucy Griffin of Decatur, GA; Earnestine Evans of Atlanta, GA; Evelyn (Dennis) Booker of Forest Park, GA; Viola 9Cornell) Reynolds of Riverdale, GA; Darlene Smith of Little Rock, AR; and Georgia Smith-Duncan of Goodwin, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday afternoon June 18 from 5 until 7 PM at the Goodwin Church of God in Christ, 145 SFC 903 in Goodwin. Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon, June 19 at 2 PM at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive in Brinkley with Pastor Dewayne Scott officiating. Interment will take place at Goodwin Memorial Cemetery in Goodwin. For more information call (870) 734-2772.
