NOTE: The following is an obituary for Mrs. Chewning but according to census records her father was Horatio Buchanan and her mother was Susanna White Buchanan. Horatio "Horry" Buchanan went to Carroll County, Mississippi before 1900 and several of his children went also. Brother Horry Buchanan is buried in Carroll County, Mississippi. His memorial number is 41747751.

Mrs. Angeline (Anglet)(Angel) Chewning, widow of James R. (Jim) Chewning. died at the home of her son Fred Chewning on Friday morning at 4:30 A.M. She was 75 years old.

Mrs. Chewning was the daughter of Harry Buchanan and Susan White Buchanan and was born in Anson County, N.C. In early womanhood she married James R. (Jim) Chewning who died a little over a year ago.

Mrs. Chewning was one of Anson's best loved women and was an active and faithful member of the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church of McFarlan.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 3 P.M. at Deep Creek Baptist Church with Rev. C.E. Stevens and Rev. F.H. Shinn officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Moore, Clyde Baker, Luke Dutton, Doss Morris, Johnnie Moore and Floyd Baker. Flower girls were Clara Moore, Nell Smith, Virginia Tucker, Essie Beck, Lina Mae Baker and Virginia Baker. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Survivors: son Fred Chewning; daughters Mrs. Ray Griggs, Mrs. Will Baker; brother Harry Buchanan; sisters Mrs. Noah Williamson, Mrs. Rosa Journey; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
