James was raised and attended school in Duncan. He earned a Bachelor degree in Physics from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. On April 24, 1981, he married Cindy Nichols in Arapaho. They made their home in Weatherford where they raised their two sons. He loved music, woodworking, photography, and working with his hands. James believed in Jesus as his Savior and passed that on to his sons and was very active in Christ Community Church.
James is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cindy Brooks; two sons, James Brian Brooks and wife, Misty and Jonathan Brooks and wife, Brooke; two sisters, Carolyn Brooks and Marilyn Brooks; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Michael.
