Charles Powell
April 23, 1945 - May 17, 2022

On the morning of May 17, 2022, Charles "Charlie" Leufroy Powell of Carrollton, Texas passed away at the age of 77 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He fought the good fight for over three years, stating the love for his family kept him going. Charlie was born to Lantz and Aimee Powell in 1945 in Brownwood, TX. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma and worked up till the age of 76 in the IT industry.

Charlie began his career in sales at NCR in South Texas and then moved to Service Bureau Company in the early 70's, in which he achieved the sales leader club each year. He even put his entrepreneurial skills to the test by helping establish sales in carbide tools with his high school buddy, John. Through the years he established lifelong friendships with people he met along the way. His most recent career accomplishment was at Realpage where he single-handedly migrated data like a pro for the sales team.

He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Zimmerman in 1965. Together they raised three children, Christine Powell, Jon Powell and Julie Powell and were then blessed with three grandchildren; Jared Carter, Blake Carter, and Lexie Surma.

Charlie was an avid golfer and was lucky enough to play the top courses across the United States. Through the years he enjoyed other hobbies like making stained glass, gardening, and visiting local parks. One of his last outings was to take his granddaughter to see "Pedro" the donkey at the local historical farm. He would tell stories to her of growing up in Ranger, Texas on his grandparent's farm during the visit.

If you ask someone to describe Charlie, they would say honest, loyal, loving, sincere, and always carrying a positive attitude. He was grateful for each day he had left with his loved ones. The family dog, Shelby, brought him great love and affection as only a fur baby could. He mainly enjoyed making others laugh through his clever banter and contagious smile. Charlie made an impact on his family and friends by helping others unconditionally and asking nothing in return; seeing their success and happiness was enough for him.

Left to honor his memory are his wife of 57 years Carol; brothers Lantz and wife Kathy, Paul and wife Betty and David and wife Lori; sister Aimee and Keith Lusk ; children Christine, Jon, and Julie with her husband Peter Surma; his grandchildren and numerous extended families. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Lantz and Aimee Powell; his brother, Tommy Powell; and his nephew Daniel Powell.

A public memorial service will be held at 11 AM on June 4th, 2022 at Allen Funeral Options located at 2112 Spring Creek Parkway in Plano, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at www.pancan.org
