Joyce Beverly Schoenwald, was born January 28, 1949, in Minot, ND., the third of five children born to, Edwin and Irene (Anderson) Schoenwald. She was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church, rural Sawyer, ND. She attended school in Max, ND., graduating with the class of 1967. Joyce then attended NDSU, in Fargo, ND., graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics Education, in 1971.

Following her graduation, Joyce moved to Thief River Falls, MN., where she taught at Marshall County Central School, in Newfolden, MN. That same year, Joyce married Roger Brandt, and to this union one son was born, Jared. After seven years teaching in Newfolden, Joyce went to work at Poppler's Furniture Store, in Thief River Falls, for one year.

In 1980, Joyce helped write the grant to start ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education), in the Thief River Falls School District. She was the coordinator and parent educator in the ECFE Program, until her retirement in 2006. The program continues today and has served thousands of students and parents, throughout the years. The program not only strengthened families, but helped to strengthen the community through bonds created in attending ECFE.

On July 22, 1989, Joyce was united in marriage to Ken Froschheiser, at St. John Lutheran Church, in Thief River Falls. They first belonged to St. John Lutheran Church, and then to Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Thief River Falls, serving on various boards and committees.

They continued to make their home in Thief River Falls, where they raised their blended family of three children: Dena, Karla and Jared.

Together they enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, motorcycling, and in their later years, traveled throughout the United States and spending winters in Arizona. Joyce enjoyed crafts, cooking, sewing, quilting at Redeemer Lutheran Church, and with the Red White & Blue Quilters, researching family history, shopping with the "Anderwalds," and spending time with her family and friends. She was passionate about her family…family comes first!

Joyce was a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Minnesota Association for the Education of Young Children (MNAEYC), Thief River Falls Association for the Education of Young Children (TRFAEYC), Thief River Falls Library Board, and NCTC Foundation, often serving as an officer, and on various committees.
