Darlene LaRue Peterson passed away peacefully at Parkway in Payson, Utah on Monday, June 13, 2022 at the age of 86.

Darlene was born February 24, 1936 in Santaquin, Utah to LaRue Bagshaw and John Herbert Peterson.

Growing up, Darlene enjoyed caring for her many brothers and sisters: Richard, Jay, Gary, Jolene, Joe, Paul, Bonnie, Debbie, Glen, Phyllis, Dorothy, LaMar, Russell and Bill.

She graduated from Santaquin High School and Santaquin First Ward Seminary on August 1, 1948.

Darlene dated Earl L. Peterson while he was in the service and they were married August 19, 1955. They were blessed with two children, James E Peterson and Brenda K Peterson-Pointere.

In the early years of their marriage, Darlene held several different jobs including dental assisting and working at Taylor Carpet. Her proudest accomplishment was attending Utah Technical College at Provo and receiving her certificate as a Dietary Manager in 1986. This lead her to a career as a dietary manager and cook at a local nursing home which she enjoyed for several years.

Later in life, she retired to take care of her husband after his stroke. This enabled them to spend more time camping, fishing, and taking drives through the canyon.

After the passing of Earl on July 28, 1997, Darlene took up being a homemaker and enjoyed spending her time loving and spoiling her 3 granddaughters, Gail, Kesha, and Shani.

She also enjoyed many activities including playing cards, gambling, plastic canvas, crocheting on towels, and she remained an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Darlene was also blessed with 3 great-grandchildren who she loved and adored, Jaxson, Malia, and Kayden.

Darlene is survived by her granddaughters, Gail Pointere, Kesha (Josh) Elliott, Shani Peterson; son-in-law, Randy Pointere; great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Malia, Kayden Elliott, and several brothers and sisters.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Peterson; son, James Peterson; daughter, Brenda Peterson Pointere; her parents, and some of her brothers and sisters.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022 in the Spanish Fork Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
