Teresa (Oberst) Keller, 90, of Bloomington, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 at IU Health Bloomington. She was born May 28, 1931 in Daviess County, IN, the daughter of John and Anna (O'Connor) Oberst. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Stan Keller; her parents and 3 sisters, Catherine Hill, Evansville, IN; Mary Pride, Washington, IN; Sister M. Celeste Oberst, Ferdinand, IN; 1 brother, Julian Oberst, who passed away at age 5. She is survived by 4 sons, George Keller; Ray Keller; Ben Keller (Sandy); Joe Keller (Amy); 2 granddaughters, Mady Keller and Sophia Keller; 1 grandson, Jake Keller, all of Bloomington, IN.
While attending elementary school, Teresa, along with other students, rode on a horse drawn school hack which transferred them to the Epsom, IN school bus. When she was in third grade, her family moved to Washington, IN where she graduated from Washington Catholic High School in 1949. She moved to Indianapolis, where she worked for an insurance company while attending Indiana Central Business School at night. After finishing her studies, she moved to Dallas, TX. She returned to Indiana in 1955 and married the love of her life, Stan, who was employed as a geologist in Indiana Geological Survey at IU Bloomington. She was a stay-at-home mom for 25 years while she and her husband raised their 4 sons. Later, she worked in the office of the Linguistics department at IU, Bloomington, retiring in 1997.
Teresa enjoyed going to soccer games, and she was a dedicated soccer mom and soccer grandma. She was very active and enjoyed daily walks on her street or the IU campus. She was an excellent host, and was always ready to serve others. Teresa was a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor, and she will be remembered as a woman who was kind and welcoming to all.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Wednesday, March 9 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am on Thursday at the St. Paul Catholic Center, 1413 E. 17th St., Bloomington. Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington following mass.
