William J. "Joe" West, age 81, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at his residence.
He was born in Savannah, GA and spent 50 years in Tampa before moving to Richmond Hill 4 ½ years ago.
William graduated from Savannah High School in 1959. He belonged to the Tampa Sheet Metal Workers Union and was a construction superintendant in the sheet metal and heating and air conditioning business. He was an avid Braves fan, a little league coach. He loved dancing, fishing, gardening, playing poker and most of all he loved his children and grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Letha West; his daughter, Leah West; siblings, Dewey West (Hazel), Oliver West (Eris "Peggy"); Wilbur West (Kate), Susie Valdes (Lou), Donald West, Betty Gregory (Gerry), and James "Tony" West.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca of Richmond Hill; his sons, Joseph West (Kathy) of Valrico, FL, James West of St. Petersburg, FL, and Alan West (Debbi) of Gainesville, FL; a brother Lonnie West (Pam) of Charleston, SC; 2 sisters-in-law, Elaine West and Annie West; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah, GA.
