Frances B. DeLuca of Mount Shasta passed away on Jan. 6, 2008, at Mercy Care Center in Mount Shasta. She was 102 years old and died of natural causes. Frances was born on Feb. 16, 1905, in Italy and moved to Siskiyou County in 1910. She was a retired grocery clerk for the Weed Mercantile. She also worked for Long Bell Lumber Company. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the Sons of Italy and the Foresters of America. As a hobby, she knitted afghans for the church to be raffled off.
