Ronnie Lee Riley, age 80, of Anniston, died Monday, June 13, 2022, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 3, 1942, in the Deventer Community of Mississippi County, MO, to the late James Clifton Riley and Earlene Nolen Riley and had lived in Anniston his entire life. A 1960 graduate of Anniston High school, he played both basketball and baseball. Soon after graduation, he was drafted in the U.S. Army, where he served as a medic stationed in Manheim, Germany. He was employed with MoDOT for 28 years, retiring as the foreman at the Charleston service shed. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, hunting and helping with the family farm all of his life. He especially loved horses. He enjoyed racing and competing in regional shows for many years. A tradition that he passed on to his son. Ronnie was a prankster and always would be the one to find humor and share his jokes and wit with family and friends. A longtime member of the Anniston Christian Church, he had served as an Elder and Sunday School teacher for a number of years.

On March 3, 1962, he married LaRue Knupp, who preceded him in death on November 29, 2021.

Surviving is his son, Scott Riley of Anniston; his granddaughters, Kristen (Jacob) Tripp of East Prairie and Lindsey (Matt) Medlock of Sikeston; his great grandchildren, Harper Elise Tripp, Parker Ray Tripp and Brooklyn Riley Medlock; his brothers, Alvin (Pauline) Riley, Dennis (Mary Lee) Riley; his sisters, Alice Thurstin, Doris Smith, Faye (Harry) Goshe, Sue Chatman, Jeanette Adkisson and Joyce Poole; also, a number of nephews, nieces and cousins survive.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray Riley, Russell Riley and Melvin Riley and his sister, Sally Riley Baron.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2022. Martin Lucas will officiate.

Interment with full military honors will follow in the Anniston Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be Howard Gene Bradley, Tommy Nolen, Darrell Abner, Steve Jordan, Robert Earl Criss and Morris Branam.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Tatum and Geary Wilson.
