After graduating from Brighton High School, Tammy attended AIMS Community College and started working for AT&T while at AIMS. She married the love of her life James "Jimmy" Nelson Jr. on April 7, 1986, in Las Vegas, NV. In 1990, Tammy started her career with Waste Connections at Front Range Landfill where she worked as the scale house office manager. Tammy dedicated herself to Front Range Landfill for 32 years during which her co-workers' became some of her greatest friends and an extended part of her family. Growing up, Tammy enjoyed spending time camping, boating and fishing with family. In her teenage years she loved going out to the county fair and dances. One year Tammy was the lady in waiting for the Adams County Sheriff's Posse. Over the years Tammy enjoyed taking trips to the Sterling Reservoir. Tammy enjoyed sharing her voice and love for music with some karaoke and singing at the barn parties. Tammy spent many years enjoying her Harley and riding with Jimmy and their friends and family. Tammy and Jimmy raise their grandson Jordan, watching him play baseball became one of her greatest loves in life. She was Jordan's biggest fan always cheering him on sitting right up front and center behind the backstop. Tammy also enjoyed to relax and go up to the hill, she loved to drink a daquiri and play her buffalo machine. Survivors beside her husband and her mother included: daughters Candice (Randall) Lacey and Fallon (Jonathan) Madera, grandsons Jordan Koch and Jaxon Lacey, and granddaughter Teja Lacey; her brothers Richard Jr. (Karen) Mayfield, Jimmy Hunt, sister Kim (Carl) Thompson and her mother-in-law Connie Nelson. Also precedied by her father-in-law James Nelson Sr. and sister-in-law Marsha Hunt.
