James Earl Ross Sr. was born to Charlie and Addie Ross on September 12, 1938 in Smithville, TX.

He was called home June 10, 2022 to be with the Lord and loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his mother Addie Ross, father Charlie Ross, brothers Sunny Ross, Charles (Pony) Ross Jr., Charlie James Griffin (CJ), Sisters Dorothy Smith (Doll), Erlee Hamilton (sis), Denell Ross, and his son James Earl Ross Jr.

After moving from Smithville, James grew up in Taylor, TX where he was self-employed as a carpenter for many years and enjoyed helping his neighbors fix and remodel their homes. He helped build Stepping Stone Apartments and Heritage Oaks in Taylor, along with many houses in Houston. James enjoyed fishing and playing dominoes with his friends but mostly spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.

James is survived by his two sisters Bassie Mack of Phoenix, Arizona, Inez Ross of Taylor, three children Polly (Harvey Jr.), Randle of Taylor, Paula (Reginald Sr.) Caldwell of Taylor, Fredrick (Antoinette) Johnson Sr. of Taylor, eight grandchildren, Trevor Randle, Shylease Johnson, Brittany Randle, Reginald Caldwell Jr., Brianna Ross, Fredrick Johnson Jr., Damarian Ross, Jayshawn Ross, as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
