Mrs. Aliff C. Willard, one of the pioneer settlers of Harristown, died at her home there Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock. She would have been ninety years of age next Christmas day. Her husband died on Dec. 18, 1916, at just about the same age.
Mrs. Willard had made her home on a farm near Harristown for the past sixty three years. When she first came there the land was virgin prairie sod with no houses on it. She and her husband moved to Harristown and built their log cabin soon after their marriage near Chapin, Ill. They celebrated the sixty seventh anniversary of their wedding on March 28, 1916.
During all the years that she lived in Harristown, Mrs. Willard lived on the old home place. She enjoyed remarkable health and for a long time was able to do her own house work and raise chickens.
The Willards lived in Decatur for several years. That was the only time that Mrs. Willard spent away from her farm home.
J. M. Willard, 752 W. Macon street, her son, survives. Mrs. Willard attended the Christian church. The funeral will be held from the Christian church at Harristown Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
