He was born 21 May 1924, in Wayne, a son of the late William and Sadie Canada Crockett.
He was a graduate of Wayne High School. Carl was also a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, a truck driver with Smith Transfer for 31 years, a timber man and farmer.
He was also a member of the Teamsters Local 505 Retirees and the Wayne Church of Christ, where he was a former elder for many years.
Those who preceded him in death were a brother, James Allen "Bill" Crockett; and a sister, Pauline Mealey.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Stewart Crockett; one son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Nancy Crockett of Wayne; one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and John Cochrane of Wayne; four grandchildren, tim Crockett and wife, Connie, Rachel Crockett; Clay Cochrane and Jessica Cochrane; two great-grandchildren, Brett and Breanna Crockett; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law; Charlie Mills; Robie and Fred Spurlock of Huntington; and June and Sterling Bentley of Nashville, Tenn..
Services will be conducted at 2:p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, by Minister Ronnie Ross. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Wayne.
