He attended Fremont Jr. High School in Calipatria and graduated from Calipatria High School in 1978. He also attended Imperial Valley College in Imperial, CA.
He worked for the County of Imperial for 30 years and was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. Joe's favorite pastime was listening to music, watching the Raiders, playing golf with his friends, and spending time with his family.
Joe's unexpected death will leave a void in our hearts. He will forever be remembered for his kindness and ability to help anyone in need. He was very involved in his community and was always willing to help. Mr. Jose Hernandez is survived by his wife, Estella Hernandez of Brawley; son, Jose (Joey) Hernandez Jr. of Eureka; daughter, Monica A. Hernandez of Brawley; sisters, Antonia (Toni) Hernandez of Calipatria, Carmen (Ross) Leon of Calipatria, Gloria (Mike) Ramirez of Brawley; niece, Helen (Balthazar) Aguilera of Brawley; grandson, Aaron Perez of Brawley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church, 402 S. Imperial Ave. in Brawley, California at 8:30 a.m. Rosary at 9 a.m. and Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Brawley. Interment at Riverview Cemetery, 4700 Hovely Road, Brawley CA will be immediately following the mass.
