Douglas McArthur Smith, 79, of Middletown, went home to the Lord on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Jackson, Kentucky on November 6, 1942 to parents, Archie and Lillie (Trusty) Smith.
Doug had worked as a forklift operator for Harding Jones/Simpson Paper, retiring after 25 years with the company. Doug was saved in 1980 and has been an active member of Yankee Road First Church of God for 42 years, where he served as head usher and ran the food pantry. He had a nursing home ministry with music. He was an avid UK fan and enjoyed bluegrass music.
Doug loved his family and will be greatly missed by his wife, Bonnie (Gibbs) Smith; daughter, Rosa Lee (Ray) Wyatt; son, Douglas "Scott" (Mary Ann) Smith; grandchildren, Ashley Rae (Anthony) Brown, Paige Lynn (Cody) Jackson, Megan Rose (Nathan Mueller) Wyatt, Grant Scott Smith & Zane Jackson Smith; and great grandchildren, Ivory, Ronin, Easton & Ryann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Cora Mae King & Charlotte Keith.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Yankee Road First Church of God, 3029 Yankee Road, Middletown, with Reverend Kevin Collins officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon at the church. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
