Son of Lee Roy Payton and Connie Mae Smith Payton. He married Dianne Morris on April 25, 1970. He worked for the Coweta County Prison Camp for 33 years and worked his way up to Deputy Director of Coweta County Public Works. He was a member of Born Again Ministries and was a former longtime member of Rehoboth Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tim Payton; and brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Debra Payton. Survivors include his wife, Dianne Payton; sons, Wayne Bloodworth, Shane Payton (Jennifer), Mark Payton (Mandy), and Lee Payton (Tabitha); eighteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
